Luke Hawkins has been tap dancing since the age of seven. He began
training at his mother's dance studio, The Hawkins School of
Performing Arts, in Folsom, California. At eight years old, Luke
landed his first professional job when he played Young Don Lockwood in
California Musical Theatre's production of Singin' in the Rain in
Sacramento. Since then his feet never stopped moving.
Soon after, Luke began training with tap master Jerry Burke and under his mentoring won three national dance competition titles. After attending The Boston Conservatory, Luke moved to New York and has tapped his way into roles in Xanadu on Broadway, Cirque du Soleil's Banana Shpeel at the Beacon Theatre, and New York City Center Encore's productions of No No Nanette, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and On Your Toes.
Regionally he has played Will Parker in Oklahoma! (Musical Theatre West); Ren in Footloose (The Palace Theatre NH); Huck in Big River and Tulsa in Gypsy (Barnstormers Theatre NH); Turkey in Johnny Guitar (Speakeasy Stage Co., Boston); Jason in A Grand Night For Singing (Gloucester Stage Company); Rudy Pazinski in Over the Tavern (Sacramento Theatre Company); Irving Berlin's White Christmas (Wang Theatre/Boston, The Fox Theatre/Detroit and The Paper Mill Playhouse). He has also returned to Sacramento Music Circus for various roles in 15 different shows. Television credits include Gossip Girl, One Life to Live, America's Got Talent, The Jerry Lewis Telethon and The Colbert Report.
Internationally, Luke played Action in the West Side Story world tour, making a two month stop on London's West End at Sadler's Wells Theatre. He was the lead tap dancer in the European tour of Magic of the Dance. He Performed in Amman Jordan as one of the original members of Noah Racey's New York Song and Dance Company as well as a soloist tap dancer in a China tour with Gregory Singer's Manhattan Symphonie Orchestra. He is Auxiliary Artistic Director of Sound Out Tap Company in Folsom Ca. He won Mr. New York 2012 and coached Miss America 2013, Mallory Hagan, on her tap solo. Luke is also a Capezio athlete and a member of SAG/AFTRA/AEA/AGVA.
